Acrylic, gel or shellac: what suits your nails?

With the development of the nail industry, a huge assortment of nail care products and for creating a first-class manicure has appeared on store shelves. But, unfortunately, not every woman can afford to buy the first nail polish she comes across, the shade of which she is interested in. The point here is allergies and the need to purchase products from a special group to care for yourself and your body. It is for this reason that experts have created special hypoallergenic nail polishes. We’ll talk about what they are and how to choose them correctly on the website Beauty-Hands.ru.

Causes of allergies to gel polish

The most common cause of contact allergies to gel coating is individual intolerance to some components of the product. In this case, the reaction can be expressed either as a rash on the skin, accompanied by itching, or as detachment of the nail plate from the finger. Also, a similar reaction is often observed when using expired or low-quality gel polish.

Some girls react very sensitively to gel polish during pregnancy and lactation . This is due to hormonal changes in the body, which pass over time.

List of hypoallergenic gel polishes

If gel polish is the cause of respiratory allergies , then no hypoallergenic analogs will help solve the problem.
In this case, it is recommended to completely abandon this type of manicure, giving preference to a traditional decorative coating. In all other cases, you can try special hypoallergenic gel polishes, the list of which is presented below.

which gel polish is hypoallergenic

CND Corporation presents manicurists and their clients with the technologies of the future - a new sensational product Shellac !

Shellac (Shellac) is the first hybrid of varnish and gel, combining the best properties of professional nail varnishes (ease of application, bright shine, richness of color) and modern modeling gels (lack of odor, wearability, indelibility). Wears like a gel, looks like polish, removes in minutes, strengthens and protects nails, hypoallergenic, created using the 3 FREE formula, does not contain dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde and its resins - all this is Shellac! Shellac (Shellac) - unlike gel, it is removed like varnish in a matter of minutes without additional filing using a special liquid for removing artificial nails. The drug does not damage natural nails and does not require a break in use.

A sensation in the nail industry! A hybrid of gel and varnish in one bottle - Shellac from CND on sale!

say “HELLO” to the future!

Easy to apply:

Shellac is ideal for application - because it is applied not like a gel from a jar, but like a regular varnish from a bottle with a brush. The latter has a flat shape, which allows you to completely cover the entire surface of the nail evenly and quickly. The modern bottle cap, which is molded from soft rubber, seems to follow the contours of the fingers and is therefore very easy to handle. Thanks to the rubberized non-slip base, it is comfortable to hold in your hand, as well as closing and opening the bottle without much effort. In addition, Shellac does not require cutting down natural nails. Before applying the product, just wipe the surface with a dehydrator such as Scrub Fresh from CND. Unlike conventional varnish, Shellac dries completely, curing like a gel under an ultraviolet lamp. This saves time and eliminates problems such as smudged coating. Nails with Shellac are very light, like nails with varnish, and do not become heavier, as when modeling. They look spectacular!

Ideal durability:

The new coating does not chip and stays on the nails for two weeks, which makes it ideal for both manicure and pedicure, especially during vacations and business trips. Shellac is durable and has high adhesion to the natural nail, just like gel. It is a real lifesaver even for those whose polish does not last more than 2-3 days. It can also be used by those who want to strengthen their natural nails, because it adds hardness to soft and thin nails, and flexibility to hard and brittle ones. Shellac, like all CND Corporation coatings, is marked with the “3 free” icon. It does not contain toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), formaldehyde or even formaldehyde resins. The drug does not contain ingredients that most often cause allergic reactions, so it is hypoallergenic. Shellac was created to expand the range of services of any salon, to meet the needs of clients who do not accept modeling products and do not want to have artificial nails for any reason. Shellac, like varnish, allows you to select the color of the coating to suit any wardrobe and occasion. After all, the palette of shades is wide: from delicate pastels to bright colors.

Easy removal:

Shellac - unlike gel, is removed like varnish in a matter of minutes without additional filing using a special liquid for removing artificial nails. The drug does not damage natural nails and does not require a break in use. Professionals who have already tested the new product unanimously stated: there is nothing to compare Shellac with; it has no equal. This is exactly what the masters and their clients lacked. Shellac applies like polish, wears like gel, and comes off in minutes! This is a revolutionary path that will be the main one in the future!

Gel nail polish Black Swan UV/LED Color Gel – review

Hello. I want to tell you about the problem that I encountered. I hope my review will be useful to someone. By nature, my nails are very thin and brittle; I have never been able to grow my nails longer than two or three millimeters.

But one fine day I was given a UV lamp and a set for covering my nails with gel polish. There was no end to my joy! I also bought materials for extensions... and off I went! I didn’t go to courses, I studied from videos on YouTube, read various articles, trained first on myself, then on my friends.

I even started earning a little money. My nails have grown, I’ve never had such long ones!

My overgrown nails

But, as they say, the sun didn’t shine for long... After four months of use, I started developing allergies. I want to say that I have been allergic since childhood, but I came across various paint and varnish materials (I studied to be an artist), I did airbrushing on a car - I almost bathed in 650 solvent))) Yes, there was a burning sensation, peeling of the skin, but I didn’t expect THIS... from a gel, gel polish!

First, the skin around my nails started to itch. Naturally, I couldn’t understand why. Then small pimples appeared. which itched unbearably, burst, the skin became rough, acquired a gray tint, began to crack, peel off in layers to the flesh... Horrible!

The fingers turned into sausages (((

After the appearance of pimples and severe itching, I finally figured out that it was an allergy and removed the covering. It became easier, the itching stopped, but the skin still took more than a month to recover. And there are wrinkles on my fingers ((

After a while I tried to apply the coating again, but the same thing happened...

And I was left again with short, weak nails (((I did it to others for a while, everything was fine, but here we go again - itching, rash, wounds and a spoiled (not the right word!) mood.

I took a break for a month, had no contact with materials at all, and my fingers recovered. I went to an allergist, to which they told me: “Change your job.” I have invested so much money, time, and soul into every job, and I have to give it all up!

I started looking on the Internet for materials that do not cause allergies and came across the website of Taisiya Vlasova, a nail service specialist and the official representative of the German TM Black Swan. I contacted her and decided to try it.

According to the manufacturer, all products of this brand are hypoallergenic. The minimum order on the website is three units. I ordered a base, color gel polish No. 070 (which will be discussed further) and a top coat.

I ordered from a new post office with full prepayment (Ukraine).

About the gel polish itself:

Beautiful bottle, volume 8 ml, country of origin: Germany.

Color No. 070, cool dark green, gives off a bluish tint, very beautiful, deep. I was very pleased with the thickness of the gel polish (as well as the base and top coat, which I will also write about) - the polish does not smear and lays down evenly.

The downside is that it needs to be applied in thin layers, as a thick layer shrinks in the lamp. Given its good density, I applied it in three layers.

The smell is a bit strong for me, but pleasant, similar to the smell of OXXI gel polishes.

Under the top there is a rubber-like coating. For example, if you press down with your fingernail, a groove is visible, which completely disappears within a few seconds and the coating becomes perfectly even and smooth. With this property, the coating retains its gloss longer and is resistant to scratches and deformations. Oh yes, I dried it in a UV lamp for three minutes.

Now I want to tell you how my fingers reacted to the coating. First I painted one nail to see what would happen. About half a day later, redness at the cuticle and slight itching appeared. I decided to wait a little. The next day, the redness went away, it didn’t itch unless you touched it) On the third day, no symptoms were observed.

I wore this nail for a week and decided to paint all my nails. I only applied the base and sealer. Also, after a few hours, the cuticle fingers turned red and itched. After 3-4 days everything went away, I went through the coating for two weeks. Then I did a manicure with color. The symptoms recurred, disappeared, and I wore the coating for almost a month.

I would like to note that the materials performed well when wearing them, only one nail was torn on the side, and another one had a detachment on the side of the free edge (maybe because the corners of my nails curl up).

After almost a month

Crack on the nail

While I was wearing the coating, I was giving someone else a manicure, and I started having a reaction again (even though I use a mask and nitrile gloves). And after the next correction, I didn’t even have a day with a new manicure; I had to take it off: my fingers were swollen, red, and blistered profusely. Maybe because they were already affected... By the way, the coating can be removed very easily with a router; I haven’t tried soaking it.

What I want to say in conclusion about Black Swan materials:

– the materials are very easy to work with, of all the materials I have tried (G.LaColor, For You, My Nail, Tertio, Komilfo, Fox, Oxxi) I have never encountered such a consistency;

- nice smell;

– deep rich color (at least this one);

– may be suitable for allergy sufferers;

– elasticity of the coating and resistance to minor mechanical damage;

– easily removed with a router

From the minuses:

– price – 200 UAH. for gel polish (bases and tops are more expensive) - a little expensive...

– not suitable for very thin nails – I strengthened and leveled with a base + three layers of color + two layers of top – and still a crack appeared on the side of the nail.

Later I will write about the base and top. By the way, I used a camouflage base.

Myth No. 5. If you wear gel polish for a long time, your nails will deteriorate, so you need to give them a “break”

Where the belief came from that you need to rest your nails for at least a month without any coating is unclear, but the fact remains that many women adhere to this tactic. Does it make sense?

Nails don’t breathe. They consist of dead cells, perform a protective function in the body and do not participate in the body's metabolic processes that require oxygen. Therefore, giving them a “respite” from coverage is pointless. On the contrary, coating with gel polish creates a water-repellent barrier that prevents the influence of tap water, household chemicals, etc. This allows you to grow your nails to the desired length.
