Every mother knows that colic in a newborn baby is a very serious problem that needs to be solved very quickly.

Of course, you can’t do without a visit to the pediatrician, because the causes of colic can be completely different, but most often, abdominal pain in newborns is associated with increased gas production.

What causes colic most often in babies? The main and most common reason is poor nutrition of the mother if she is breastfeeding.

Many foods contain substances that a newborn’s gastrointestinal tract simply cannot process, and with mother’s milk, everything that the mother eats enters the baby’s body.

Therefore, nursing mothers need to be very careful and responsible when choosing a diet.

If the baby is bottle-fed, then the cause of intestinal colic may be an incorrectly selected milk formula. Then it’s worth replacing it with another one.

Gas formation can become increased and lead to abdominal pain even if, along with food (during breastfeeding or from a bottle), air enters the baby’s body, which he swallows. If the duration of each feeding is less than 20 minutes, then this can also lead to bloating of the baby’s tummy, and, accordingly, to painful sensations.

What is Bobotik?

There is a large selection of drugs designed to relieve newborn babies from colic and increased gas formation. Most products contain such an effective substance as simethicone. It is the active component that breaks up gases in the baby’s intestines. The drug with the highest concentration of simethicone is Bobotik.

Due to the high content of this substance, for the drug to work, just a few drops are enough to be diluted in water.

In addition to simethicone, Bobotik contains excipients such as sodium saccharinate, sodium carmellose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroclibenzoate, citric acid, distilled water and flavoring. Since the drug does not contain sugar, it can be taken even if you have diabetes.

Despite the fact that Bobotik is a very effective remedy for bloating in babies, it is advisable to prescribe it no earlier than 4 weeks, although the instructions indicate that it can be taken even from the first weeks.

The drug can be diluted both in water and in milk formula. Some mothers who breastfeed their babies sometimes do this: they drip a few drops of Bobotik onto the nipple, and then give it to the baby.

Symptoms

Despite the high position that the drug Bobotik occupies among other similar anticolic drugs, there are cases when it causes allergic reactions in children. Allergy to Bobotik in newborns most often manifests itself with the following symptoms:

  • skin lesions with a rash, the presence of diaper rash, redness, itching and peeling of the skin, etc.;
  • abnormal stool in an infant (diarrhea, greenish color, foam in the stool), regurgitation, nausea, increased flatulence, constipation, bloating, colic;
  • allergic rhinitis and swelling of the nasal mucosa (quite rare).

Intertrigo

If, after you gave your child Bobotik, he quickly and clearly developed any of the above symptoms, this is a reason to discontinue the drug, since this is how an allergy to Bobotik can manifest itself.

Although the components of this product are quite safe for newborns, the fruit and berry flavors included in its composition can be quite strong allergens.

Treatment

If you find any manifestations of an allergic reaction in your baby, you need to contact your pediatrician as soon as possible to find out its causes. Before that, you need to exclude those foods and medications that you think could cause allergies.

If the reaction is severe, it is necessary to give the child antihistamines in the required dose. This can be a syrup or emulsion that contains suprastin or claritin.

In order to find out in advance whether your baby’s body will give an allergic reaction to Bobotik, before giving your child full doses of the drug, try giving him just a couple of drops to begin with.

If everything is in order, then you can confidently use Bobotik as a remedy for colic and flatulence.

If the child has a clear allergy, then the use of this drug should be immediately abandoned and replaced with something else.

For example, many mothers, after an unsuccessful experience with Bobotik, successfully switched to Sub Simplex or Fenistil. These drugs also do an excellent job of treating gastrointestinal problems in newborns, but do not cause allergic reactions as often.

Prevention

Allergy prevention is the complete exclusion of the main allergen. If after using the drug you notice a deterioration in the baby’s health, a skin rash, an increase in temperature due to allergies and other symptoms, this indicates incompatibility between Bobotik and the child’s body. In this case, you need to consult a specialist, and if it turns out that Bobotik is the allergen, you need to completely eliminate it.

You can use other drugs of similar action, which contain other components that are less prone to allergy formation. Colic is a common and obligatory manifestation for a child; the main thing is to be able to deal with it with the help of the right and safe medications.

If you are allergic to bobotik, what can you replace it with?

All mothers know that babies suffer from bloating and colic in the first months. How can I help the baby without harming her? Now there are many drugs that alleviate this condition in children. One of them is Bobotik drops for newborns against colic and flatulence. The drug is a whitish emulsion in a bottle with a stopper - a pipette, 30 ml in volume. Dosage form – drops.

How does the medicine work?

The medicine contains simethicone, an active chemical compound that has a carminative effect. Simethicone breaks up gas bubbles into microscopic ones, thereby providing the main effect of the Bobotik drug - reducing bloating and easing colic.

Bobotik does not enter the blood, does not affect the microflora, does not change when interacting with gas, gastric juice and food, and therefore is excreted through the intestines in its original form.

The drug Bobotik can be taken with caution during lactation and pregnancy, after consultation with a specialist.

When and how to use?

Indications for use Bobotik:

  • bloating and colic in newborns;
  • diagnostic examination (sonography, radiography, FGDS);
  • conditions after intestinal surgery.

It is important to note at what age Bobotik should be given. Despite the fact that many pediatricians recommend such drugs from the first weeks, the instructions for use warn that for colic, Bobotik should be used no earlier than the 28th day after the child’s birth.

Note to moms!

Hello girls) I didn’t think that the problem of stretch marks would affect me too, and I’ll also write about it))) But there’s nowhere to go, so I’m writing here: How did I get rid of stretch marks after childbirth? I will be very glad if my method helps you too...

How to give drops : before use, the bottle must be shaken until a homogeneous substance is obtained. Then, turning the bottle upside down, add the required number of drops. Bobotik can be added to a bottle of formula, milk or water. If the child takes only the breast, then it is more convenient to use a teaspoon or a syringe without a needle.

How much to give : for babies from the 28th day to 2 years, Bobotik for colic is given in a dosage of 8 drops. Parents are always interested in: how often to give Bobotik to a newborn, because colic can torment the baby after each feeding? According to the instructions, the drug can be given no more than 4 times a day (160 mg/day), after feeding or during feeding.

When should Bobotik not be used?

The medicine has a number of contraindications:

  1. if the child is less than 28 days old;
  2. allergic reaction to the constituent components of the drug;
  3. intestinal obstruction;
  4. obstructive disorders in the gastrointestinal tract.

Considering possible contraindications, parents should definitely consult a pediatrician before giving their baby medicine.

The first time it is better to give 1 - 2 drops, to avoid an allergic reaction. If the baby is allergic to Bobotik, the doctor will select another safe drug.

How does Bobotik differ from its analogues?

The price of the drug varies from 155 to 170 rubles. Compared to analogues, the cost of the drug is not high, although in composition and action it is not inferior to similar drugs at a higher price. Bobotik is not advertised, so many parents do not know about it, and pediatricians forget to prescribe it. However, the drug has many advantages over its competitors:

  • the high concentration of simethicone allows you to give the medicine in a small dosage, which is much easier to give to the baby;
  • Bobotik medicine is economical, a bottle lasts for a month;
  • does not contain sugar, so it can be given to those suffering from diabetes.

Analogues of Bobotik also have their pros and cons. When you come to the pharmacy, it is difficult to immediately figure out what is right for your baby. Therefore, let’s compare the drug Bobotik with some similar drugs:

  1. Bobotik or Espumisan : the drugs have the same active component - simethicone, but its dosage is different in these medicines: in Bobotik it is 66.66 mg per 1 ml, and in Espumisan it is 40 mg per 5 ml. The second drug is less economical, with the same bottle volume.
  2. Bobotik or SAB simplex : the first drug is given no more than 4 times a day, SAB simplex can be given to the child at every feeding - this is more convenient when the baby is free-fed. But the price for SAB simplex is much higher - from 200 rubles.
  3. Bobotik or Baby Calm : the composition of the drugs is completely different. Baby Calm is a herbal medicine consisting of essential oils. In addition to colic and bloating, Baby Calm acts as an anti-inflammatory, sedative and analgesic drug. If the baby experiences severe pain, is constantly capricious, and cannot sleep, then these two medications can be used in parallel.

Recommendations for parents

  • Use Bobotik only in the required dosage, observing the entire frequency.
  • If you are allergic to Bobotik, you should immediately exclude it.
  • An examination by a pediatrician is carried out every month at the slightest suspicion of an allergy.
  • To minimize colic and eliminate the need to frequently use Bobotik, you need to give your child a light, relaxing tummy massage.
  • A well-coordinated and healthy diet for the mother will help prevent the frequent occurrence of colic.

The drug Bobotik can cause allergic manifestations in every third child. If they do not go away over time, and the baby’s condition only worsens, you should visit your doctor and choose a more gentle drug for the baby’s body.

Bobotik: instructions for use in newborns, comparison with analogues and reviews from mothers + video

Infantile colic is a very common syndrome in babies from 2 weeks to 4 months. It occurs in 90% of all newborns and usually appears in the evening: the baby begins to cry and press his legs to his swollen tummy.

Some parents prefer to deal with the problem using conservative non-drug means: applying a heating pad or using a gas tube, while others add special approved drugs to their babies’ food to immediately relieve symptoms. One of them is Bobotik. Despite the almost complete lack of advertising, it has gained great popularity among mothers.

Therefore, let's take a closer look at the following questions. What characteristics does this medicine have? And what effect does it have on the baby’s body?

Description of the drug Bobotik

Bobotik is one of the most popular drugs for infant colic.

Bobotik is a drug in the form of drops for oral administration based on simethicone. Available in the form of a thick, opaque liquid of white color or with a light cream tint.

It is used to relieve or reduce symptoms of flatulence (excessive accumulation of gases in the intestines) in newborns: bloating, infant colic, belching.

And also before diagnostic procedures (ultrasound, x-ray examination of the gastrointestinal tract), so that gases do not obscure the visibility of organs.

Composition of the drug: simethicone (66.66 mg of active substance in 1 ml), sodium saccharinate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium carmellose, citric acid monohydrate, raspberry flavor, purified water.

Since the main active substance is simethicone, the effect of the drug is based on the mechanism of action of this particular substance on the body.

It is an organosilicon compound of the group of demethylpolysiloxanes (E900), silicones - additives that are used as emulsifiers and defoamers.

It is chemically inert, therefore it does not affect the enzymes and microorganisms of the gastrointestinal tract.

Simethicone modifies the surface tension of intestinal gas bubbles, prevents their formation and promotes the destruction of existing ones. Due to this, the released gases are absorbed by the intestinal walls or removed by peristalsis (by contraction of the gastrointestinal tract) from the body.

Advantages

The main advantages of Bobotik over other drugs are:

  • High concentration of simethicone (66.66 mg/1 ml of the drug, the usual dosage of analogues is 40–45 mg/1 ml), which allows it to be used in smaller quantities with a relatively equal volume produced with other drugs.
  • Economical use. As a rule, 2-3 bottles are enough for the entire period of symptoms of flatulence in newborns.
  • No sugar in the composition. This does not affect the taste in any way (raspberry flavoring is present), but it can be taken by babies suffering from neonatal diabetes (congenital diabetes).

To make it convenient to give the product to small children, it can be mixed with water or baby food.

The cost varies from 222 to 357 rubles.

Possible contraindications and side effects

The drug Bobotik can be used by newborns from the second month of life.

Despite the fact that the drug is quite safe and approved for use in newborns, it still has a number of contraindications:

  • hypersensitivity or allergic reaction to components;
  • not recommended for children under 28 days of age;
  • intestinal obstruction (the movement of the contents of the intestinal tract is impaired or completely stopped);
  • obstructive diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (diseases of the stomach, pancreas, duodenum, gall bladder, etc.).

You also need to know that Bobotik does not treat flatulence in children, but only eliminates the symptoms. Therefore, it should not be taken as a preventive measure against this disease. After eliminating the symptoms, the drug should be stopped.

Since the drug is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, an overdose does not pose a threat to life and health.

How can you replace Bobotik: analogues in terms of active substance and effect

All medications that can replace Bobotik are divided into two groups: drugs that are analogues of the active substance and drugs that are analogues of the effect they provide.

Table “Analogue drugs based on simethicone”

The price of drugs - analogues based on simethicone is approximately the same, from 170-200 rubles for 30-50 ml. The main difference is the content of the active substance in 1 ml. Thus, Sub Simplex contains the highest concentration of simethicone, which indicates that the effect can be achieved more quickly with less product consumption.

Another criterion influencing the choice of the drug presented in the table may be availability. Infacol, Simethicone in the form of a suspension and Antiflat Lannacher appeared on the Russian market relatively recently, so in most cases they can only be found in large pharmacy chains at an inflated price.

Photo gallery “Analogue drugs with simethicone”

Infacol Simethicone Antiflat Lannacher Sub Simplex is the closest analogue product to Bobotik based on simethicone Espumisan L

Table “Drugs - analogues by effect”

Preparations with a similar effect to Bobotik mainly consist of natural ingredients. The active ingredient is fennel. It has an antispasmodic and calming effect and helps fight many gastrointestinal problems. Helps normalize digestion and good appetite.

However, compared to simethicone-based products, these medications are more expensive, and they cannot be used against colic from the first days of a newborn’s life.

Along with taking medications for flatulence in a newborn, you can also use other methods to combat the disease: apply a warm diaper to the baby’s tummy, do a special massage, feed from adapted anti-colic nipples, and make sure that excess air is not swallowed when eating.

Reviews from moms about Bobotik

Ksenia left a positive review of the drug:

It really helped us (we tried Espumisan, Sub-Simplex, and Baby Calm)!!! Economical, only 8 drops, and you have to give it a couple of times a day. It’s better to try it + Semper Lemolak mixture, we completely forgot about colic)))

Pina Colada shared her experience:

We used it. The pediatrician recommended it when we were 10 days old and did not say that it can be used from 28 days. But I was able to find it at the pharmacy when we were more than a month old. This is the only thing that helped us. True, after 2-3 weeks it seemed to me that its effect had weakened, but by that time the colic began to stop.

Regina writes about possible allergies:

And we got an allergy from the bobotik. We thought about a mixture, changed 3 mixtures, but the allergy did not go away, we stopped giving Bobotik, the allergy went away. It was in vain that the formula was changed, the child was tortured and money wasted, everyone thought the formula was not suitable, but it turned out to be a bobot.

and they started using bobotik and it really began to help, the main thing is to drink it regularly. I stopped drinking at about 2.5 months and things got better. Now I give it only sometimes when my tummy hurts, the effect is in 5 minutes.

, the baby immediately falls asleep and sleeps peacefully

Bobotik is an effective remedy that is approved by many parents. It helps to quickly alleviate the condition of babies, and it is safe, since its active ingredient - simethicone - does not enter into any reactions with the body.

However, it should be remembered that this is still a medicine. Therefore, be sure to consult your pediatrician before use. The baby's comfort is very important.

And if there is an opportunity to quickly solve the problem of infant colic, then why not take advantage of it, protecting the child from unnecessary stress?

Risk factors

The onset of colic in a baby is observed at different periods; it does not have to be at the age of 2-3 months. In some cases, the baby suffers from bloating and pain in the abdomen, starting from the second month, this is due to the sudden inclusion of complementary foods due to the loss of breast milk.

If a child has various inflammatory processes, he is also prohibited from taking this medication. You can find a way out of this situation with the help of other medications that have the same purpose. If allergic reactions do occur, they are accompanied by severe symptoms, the first thing you should do is contact your pediatrician. Independent actions will only worsen the baby’s well-being.

Bobotik's analogs

Bobotik is a milky-white emulsion with a fruity odor. Used to treat bloating and colic in babies. Passing through the digestive tract, the simethicone in the composition breaks up the accumulated gas bubbles, allowing them to escape freely.

The price for a 30 ml bottle varies from 270 to 330 rubles, which is more profitable than many analogues.

Dosed drop by drop, not available in any other form. One bottle is enough for 60–70 uses, taking into account the age of the child. The drug Bobotik and analogues for children are available in pharmacies without a prescription.

pharmachologic effect

Manufacturer: Medana Pharma, Poland

Release form: drops for oral administration

Active ingredient: simethicone

Synonyms: Sab Simplex, Espumisan

Bobotik destroys air bubbles in the cavity of the small intestine and makes it difficult to form new ones. This way, under the influence of simethicone, large bubbles do not form, which cause pain when bloated. The released gas is freely absorbed or excreted naturally.

The drug leaves the body unchanged. It is not absorbed and does not pass through the liver and kidneys.

Indications for use of Bobotik

The drug or its analogues are used:

  • against increased gas formation - colic, flatulence;
  • in case of preparation for research (radiography, ultrasound);
  • in the postoperative period.

The indications for use in the instructions for all Bobotik analogues are similar.

Bobotik - instructions for use

Before use, shake Bobotik until a homogeneous emulsion is obtained. The drug is dosed drop by drop, holding the bottle strictly vertically. For convenience, before administration, the product should be diluted in still water and baby food. Analogues of Bobotik can also be diluted in water or milk formula.

The medicine is taken 4 times a day, 16 drops for adults and children over 6 years of age. 14 drops for children 2–6 years old and 8 drops for children from 28 days to 2 years.

All analogues with simethicone are contraindicated:

  • with gastrointestinal obstruction, intestinal obstruction - in these cases, gases will not be able to leave the intestines;
  • in case of allergic reactions of the patient to Bobotik and its analogues;
  • during the neonatal period until the 28th day of life. If it is necessary to give a baby Bobotik from birth, the prescription is made only by a doctor. There are analogs of Bobotik that can be used independently from the first days of life.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use of Bobotik and analogues is possible only if prescribed by a doctor. He decides whether the benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus.

Only allergic reactions have been reported as side effects of Bobotik and its analogues. An overdose of the drug and analogues is not dangerous and does not pose a threat to health.

Interferes with the absorption of anticoagulants. The instructions for use of Bobotik allow drivers to take it; the medicine does not depress attention.

Bobotik before or after meals

If colic occurs suddenly, the baby should immediately stop feeding. This way, the tummy will not get worse as long as Bobotik or its analogues are in effect.

To prevent bloating, Bobotik should be given in a spoonful of water or milk formula. It is important to take Bobotik before or after feeding. It is preferable to take carminatives during or after meals.

Drops with simethicone are a pediatric dosage form against infant colic. It is rarely taken by adults and older children if it was already in the medicine cabinet or was at hand. Analogues of Bobotik and drugs of other groups recommended for flatulence:

  • enterosorbents (absorb and redistribute gases in the contents of the gastrointestinal tract);
  • antispasmodics;
  • synonyms (contain simethicone);
  • herbal teas;
  • combination carminatives;
  • probiotics;
  • products based on essential oils.

Bobotik or Espumisan Baby - which is better for newborns

Manufacturer: Berlin-Chemie AG, Germany

Release form: drops for oral administration

Active ingredient: simethicone

Synonyms: Sub Simplex, Bobotik, Simethicone

Newborn babies need special attention. Intestinal colic in infants is caused by:

  1. Aerophagia, when the baby does not fully grasp the breast or bottle and swallows a lot of air during feeding.
  2. Immaturity of the gastrointestinal tract. These include motor skills, imperfect microflora, and reactions to different foods.
  3. Infections affecting the digestive system (rotavirus, enterovirus, etc.).
  4. Treatment with antibiotics.

To treat infant colic, an analogue of Bobotik is used - Espumisan Baby drops or Espumisan L. There are capsules for adults.

Despite the similar component, Espumisan Baby and Bobotik are different, although not radically. The concentration of simethicone in Bobotik is lower, 66.66 mg/ml. For one dose, a child under 1 year of age is given 8 drops.

Espumisan Baby has more - 100 mg of active ingredient in 1 ml and you can give 5-10 drops at a time by mixing it with water or a mixture. It can be given to a child from the first day of life and given to him as needed until he is 1 year old.

The cost of the analogue Espumisan Baby is higher - 400–570 rubles per bottle. Bobotik can be bought cheaper by an average of 200 rubles, but it can only be given from a month to two years.

Some mothers use Espumisan L emulsion, it contains 40 mg/ml Simethicone, you need to give the baby 25 drops of the product at a time. It is consumed much faster than Bobotik, costs 430–580 rubles.

Mom's choice:

  • in case of mild flatulence, do without Bobotik or analogues at all, with dill water, a tummy massage;
  • if the child’s tummy begins to bother him after the maternity hospital, Espumisan Baby and Bobotik should not be given to a newborn;
  • Bobotik is suitable for babies from a month old, for children up to 2 years old and will be financially more profitable than its analogues.

Bobotik or SAB Simplex – which is better?
