Differences between Zodak and Zodak Express

They differ in their active ingredients. Zodak consists of cetirizine, Zodak Express - of levocetirizine. Cetirizine is an organic compound that has the same content of R- and L-forms in solution, of which only the R-form is in the active state.

Levocetirizine contains only derivatives of the R-form of cetirizine constituents, which do not contain L-forms. Therefore, Zodak Express has a great therapeutic effect.

What is the difference between Zodak and Zodak Express?

A drug called Zodak is presented on the pharmaceutical market in the form of drops and tablets - the instructions for use say that the product is effective against allergies. The advantage of the medication is that it has an antisedative effect; when you take it, you don’t feel sleepy. The drug helps to actively combat allergic manifestations such as itching and rashes.

What is Zodak

The 2nd generation drug – Zodak has a prolonged effect, due to which the duration of action of the main component increases.

The medication shown in the photo eliminates allergy symptoms due to the active substance - a selective blocker of peripheral H1 receptors. Indicated for use during exacerbation of seasonal allergies, as well as chronic diseases of this type.

Even if you take the drug for a long time, there will be no problems with the central nervous system (drowsiness or depression).

Composition of the Zodak

Compare Zodak and Zodak Drops

The results of clinical studies have demonstrated that the use of cetirizine in recommended doses leads to the development of minor adverse effects from the central nervous system, including drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness and headache. In some cases, paradoxical stimulation of the central nervous system has been reported.

In addition to the adverse events identified during clinical trials and described above, the following adverse reactions were observed during post-registration use of the drug. From the hematopoietic system: very rarely - thrombocytopenia. From the immune system: rarely - hypersensitivity reactions; very rarely - anaphylactic shock.

Mental disorders: infrequently – agitation; rarely - aggression, confusion, depression, hallucinations, sleep disturbance; very rarely – tic; frequency unknown - suicidal ideation, sleep disturbances (including nightmares).

From the nervous system: infrequently – paresthesia; rarely – convulsions; very rarely - taste perversion, dyskinesia, dystonia, fainting, tremor; frequency unknown – memory impairment, incl. amnesia. From the organ of vision: very rarely - disturbance of accommodation, blurred vision, nystagmus. On the part of the hearing organ: frequency unknown – vertigo, deafness.

From the cardiovascular system: rarely – tachycardia; frequency unknown – vasculitis. From the digestive system: infrequently – diarrhea; rarely - liver failure with changes in liver function tests (increased activity of transaminases, alkaline phosphatase, GGT and bilirubin); frequency unknown – increased appetite.

From the skin and subcutaneous tissues: infrequently – rash, itching; rarely - urticaria; very rarely - angioedema, persistent drug erythema. From the urinary system: very rarely - dysuria, enuresis; frequency unknown - urinary retention. From the musculoskeletal system: frequency unknown - arthralgia.

General disorders: infrequently – asthenia, malaise; rarely – peripheral edema, weight gain. Description of selected adverse reactions After stopping the use of cetirizine, cases of itching (including intense itching) and/or urticaria were reported. A complete list of side effects and warnings is on the official website https://allergia.pro/product/zodak-tabletki/.

The results of clinical studies have demonstrated that the use of cetirizine in recommended doses leads to the development of minor adverse effects from the central nervous system, including drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness and headache. In some cases, paradoxical stimulation of the central nervous system has been reported.

Despite the fact that cetirizine is a selective blocker of peripheral H1 receptors and has virtually no anticholinergic effect, isolated cases of difficulty urinating, disturbances of accommodation and dry mouth have been reported.

Liver dysfunction has been reported, accompanied by increased activity of liver enzymes and bilirubin. In most cases, adverse events resolved after discontinuation of cetirizine dihydrochloride.

Data are available from double-blind, controlled clinical trials comparing cetirizine with placebo or other antihistamines given at recommended doses (10 mg once daily for cetirizine) in more than 3,200 patients on which a reliable analysis can be made safety data - see instructions in the package. In addition to the adverse events identified during clinical trials and described above, the following adverse reactions were observed during post-registration use of the drug. Based on data from post-marketing use of the drug, adverse events are divided into MedDRA organ system classes and incidence. The incidence of adverse events was determined as follows: very often (>1/10), often (>1/100, 1/1000, 1/10,000,

Interaction with other drugs

Based on the analysis of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of cetirizine, interaction with other drugs is unlikely.

There was no significant interaction observed with pseudoephedrine and theophylline (at a dose of 400 mg/day) in specific drug interaction studies.

The simultaneous use of cetirizine with ethanol and drugs that depress the central nervous system may further reduce concentration and reaction speed, although cetirizine does not enhance the effect of ethanol (at a blood concentration of 0.5 g/l).

No clinically significant interactions of cetirizine with other drugs have been established.

Reviews from doctors

Miklashevich Vitaly Petrovich, therapist, Smolensk

I often prescribe this medicine for various manifestations of allergic reactions. The drug is instant action, the first effect occurs within 10 minutes. Convenient forms of use: children – syrup, adults – tablets. Affordable price of this medicine, high quality manufacturing. Medicines should be used after consultation with a doctor; there are a number of contraindications for use and side effects.

Artukhevich Zoya Olegovna, allergist, Moscow

These antihistamines do not have sedative properties. I consider them effective in combating allergic manifestations. The medication is available in drops for children and is approved for use from one year onwards. I recommend taking medications only after consulting a doctor.

I have been suffering from hay fever for many years, only these drugs save me. Quite convenient use - only 1 time per day, regardless of meals. The drug is affordable and can be purchased without a doctor's prescription. No side effects were observed during the entire period of taking the drug.

Victoria, 37 years old, Voronezh

When a child has a food allergy, I give this medicine in the form of a syrup. The drug is effective, acts immediately, and can be used once a day. It is well tolerated by the body, no side effects were observed. For adults there are tablets that are also used once a day.
