What lamps can cause a UV burn? How to treat it

Such injury can occur from any model of an open type UV lamp. The degree of burn depends on the power of the emitter and the time of exposure to ultraviolet radiation, they are distinguished:

  • mild degree;
  • average;
  • heavy.

Each of them has its own set of symptoms.

Mild degree

It develops under the condition that a person, without wearing protective glasses, briefly turns his face to the emitter and looks directly at it. This degree is characterized by the following symptoms:

  • swelling of the eyelids;
  • their redness;
  • pain in the eyes;
  • profuse lacrimation;
  • photosensitivity.

Symptoms appear several hours later.

Average degree

If you look at any ultraviolet lamp for longer, the burn will affect not only the eyelids, but also the conjunctiva, which will lead to its hyperemia, as well as to the appearance of severe pain. It is very difficult to open your eyes.

Severe degree

Such severe eye burns are quite rare. In response to prolonged exposure to a nearby UV lamp, the eyelids become blistered and crusty, causing intense eye pain. It becomes impossible to open them.
